We recently had a chance to finally try the Moody River Grille in North Fort Myer. They are in the Orange Grove Center on Hancock Parkway. They have been open for less than a year, but the owners are not new to the restaurant business. They previously owned Foster’s Grille as well as restaurants/nightclubs in Virginia and Maryland. It is no surprise then that Moody River Grille is doing so well.
The wall décor is old North Fort Myers giving it that neighborhood feel. It is bright and airy creating a comfortable feeling. The service is friendly, and our server paid attention to detail with being over bearing. There are TV’s for those who wish to watch sports.
Service is just as important to having a successful restaurant as is the food. With so many choices in restaurants in SWFL, it is all about the experience. Sometimes it is hard to find a good, locally owned place to eat. North Fort Myers has perhaps less options than say Cape Coral or Fort Myers does. It is nice to know that there is a place in North Fort Myers where one can get a good, fresh made meal at a reasonable price.
Moody River Grille is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner but we were there for lunch. The menu has plenty of choices for salads and sandwiches, pocket sandwiches and hamburgers. We settled on the Chicken Strawberry Salad and the Hot Black and Blue Burger ($9.95) although mine was without the hot. The salad was fresh, large and had plenty of chicken and strawberries. The Black and Blue burger, my favorite burger I might add, was the best I have had in Lee County. It was cooked perfectly, and the bun was fresh. The fries were fresh potatoes and just perfect. Some fries can be over cooked or greasy, but these were just perfect.
The owners created this to be a neighborhood place for breakfast, lunch and dinner and overall, they have succeeded. You can tell they know what they are doing, how to serve food people want. Most menu items are around or under $10 making it a great place for family dining.
